Feeding in Bolitoglossa rufescens

Bolitoglossa rufescens is a slow-moving arboreal species from Mexico that resembles a dried blade of grass. Bolitoglossa is a large genus of tropical plethodontids with projectile tongues nearly as long as that of Hydromantes . This video was recorded at 200 frames per second. The tongue is projected completely in about 5 milliseconds, which is the time between consecutive frames.
