Bolitoglossa subpalmata is a terrestrial species from Costa Rica with projectile tongue nearly as long as that of Hydromantes. This video was recorded at 180 frames per second. The tongue is projected to about 40 % of body length in 6 milliseconds. The epibranchial cartilage of the tongue skeleton is visible moving under the skin at the shoulder.
